Homestay with the University of Tasmania
For over twenty years, the University of Tasmania has offered Homestay as an accommodation option. The Homestay Program has recently opened its doors to the wider UTAS community and continues to be managed in house by a dedicated team of professionals.
We believe Homestay is about a cultural experience, both for the student and homestay host family. Homestay provides more than just a roof over one's head - it really is about bringing the global community together at a common table.
Homestay is now a successful accommodation option for UTAS students and visitors, including:
- Domestic students
- UTAS Medical/Nursing students (with placements in Hobart)
- International Students
- English Language Centre (ELC) students
- Study Tour students
- Exchange students
- Undergraduate Students
- Postgraduate Students
- Visiting researchers
- Visiting academics
Whatever your style, we will make a concerted effort to match you with a homestay that fits with your needs.
My host was the perfect host for me and my situation. She understood my need for study, the house was quiet, yet we had many enjoyable discussions about our different fields of research, and different university experiences. The location was convenient for access to the University and the Archives. Thank you to the Homestay Coordinator for suggesting Homestay. I will be returning to Hobart for further research, and would definitely like to use Homestay again.
On behalf of the entire family, I'd like thank you very much for facilitating a homestay family for our son during his recent Deakin University arranged work-placement at the Royal Hobart Hospital. To know that he was billeted to a lovely family gave us all a sense of confidence and allowed us to sleep a little easier. I couldn't speak more highly of the service you provided, in particular, your consideration of our son's best interests.
Thanks for your help during my homestay, I was happy when I lived with my homestay family. I still remember it was a magical experience. Now I can study and live better in Tasmania because of your help.
