About the apartments
We're pleased to be an approved National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) accommodation provider. This means that we can support eligible residents in low to middle-income brackets by offering them our high quality apartments at a minimum of 20% below market valuation rates.
The National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) is jointly funded by the Australian and state governments. It provides incentives for dwellings let to eligible tenants.
Developments being completed as part of this project and their expected completion dates are:
To receive the government incentives the University is required to satisfy numerous legislative conditions which apply to our NRAS dwellings, including (but not limited to):
- NRAS dwellings will be available to low to moderate income earners, whose income is not to exceed the NRAS income threshold.
- Residential fees applicable for NRAS dwellings are a minimum of 25% below market valuations. UTAS Accommodation Services' fees for NRAS apartments are set at 25% below market valuation.
- NRAS dwellings are offered for 42 week residential agreements and will adhere to the Residential Tenancy Act 1997. Residents can elect to have a longer residential agreement if they wish - up to a maximum of 52 weeks - but the minimum residential agreement is 42 weeks.
To ensure compliance with the NRAS conditions, Accommodation Services must assess an applicant's eligibility (and continuing eligibility for re-applying residents) to live in NRAS dwellings.
Please note that priority will be given to students travelling from elsewhere in Australia.
See our NRAS FAQs page for more information on NRAS eligibility requirements.
