Choosing a course and a university
is not an easy decision. However, once you have decided
that the University of Tasmania is for you, make sure
you consider the various University housing options
available. As the state 's largest housing provider,
you definitely won’t be disappointed with the
choices available to you. You can choose between several
styles of accommodation and support options on the Hobart
and Launceston campuses.
All accommodation is University owned and managed by
Accommodation Services.
On the Hobart campus you have a choice
between two fully catered Colleges: Christ
College and John
Fisher College and the new self-catered
University Apartments. In Launceston you can choose
between two self-catered halls of residence: Kerslake
Hall and Leprena,
and the partly catered Clarence
House . All accommodation is non-smoking. Each residence
is unique and offers an range of social, cultural and
sporting opportunities in an environment conducive to
study and academic achievement.
Living in University housing is more
than just a roof over your head and a bed to sleep in.
You will be part of a safe, healthy, supportive and
resilient residential academic community. You will have
endless opportunities to share, learn and experience
different values, cultures and customs.
In addition you will have access to
a professionally trained residential support team providing
pastoral care and support 24 hours a day, seven days
per week. Access is also available to support services
such as counselling, medical, International Student
Office, the Student Association/Union and Careers Advisory
