John Minas, Sonia Shimeld and Simone Bingham won the Best Teaching Paper Award at the Australasian Tax Teachers Association Conference 2013, held at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The title of their teaching scholarship paper was "Using one-on-one interviews in tax teaching". The paper documented an assessment initiative used in the Master of Professional Accounting unit, Australian Tax Law, at the School of Accounting and Corporate Governance.
The authors adopted an action research approach which used feedback from students to evaluate the success of interviews as a form of assessment. John Minas (at left) who presented the paper is shown accepting the Award at the Conference from Professor Michael Walpole (at right).
