Pacioli – The journal for student writingThe School of Accounting and Corporate Governance is sponsoring a student journal to develop the communication and research skills of under-graduate and honours students. The name of the journal is in homage to Luca Pacioli – “the father of accounting”.

The written communication skills of accounting students have long been recognised as not meeting the standard required by industry and the profession. Despite the changes made to accounting curricula to improve students’ written skills studies have found that many students continue to rank technical skills as being more important than good writing skills. This is in direct contrast to the needs of employers and the accounting profession who have both stated that good communication skills are a vital component of the profession.
