Looks at various national accounting practices which have more to do with ideology than the country in question, including: Europe and its attempts to harmonise accounting reports; the Americas and the dichotomy between north and south; South-East Asia with particular emphasis on Japan; and China’s emergence into international trade and its accounting decisions. The different accounting treatments require that foreign exchange transactions receive special attention and that currency movements be hedged against as part of sound corporate financial management.
