The focus of this unit is to develop an understanding of corporate governance as applied to the activities of corporations, government and semi-government organisations. Consideration is given to the development of best practice corporate governance since the early 1990s both in Australia and overseas. The aim is to show how the adoption of best practice in relation to corporate governance can lead to a significant improvement in company performance; compliance with legal regulations; disclosure of information and transparency; accountability; ethical conduct and economic growth.
