The focus will be on the risk management process with particular emphasis on the use of managerial, internal control systems and risk management processes to identify, analyse and respond to risk exposure in organizations. Case studies will form an integral part of this unit as issues relating to, for example, environmental, business, asset and information risks are considered. Issues of risk exposure and change, assessment and mitigation of risk, the implications of globalisation, world events, computerization, the information economy, and community concern are considered. Risk and the future are addressed with implications for positive corporate governance considered.
