To be considered for admission to a course you must
UTAS will assess your qualifications, including your supporting documentation, as part of the standard assessment process. It takes time to process your application after we receive it. The time taken will vary depending on the type of application and how accurate and complete your application is when you apply.
It is important to note that meeting the University’s admission requirements does not guarantee you entry to the course of your choice.
If you have not met the entry requirements or prerequisites for the course you have applied for you may be offered a place in an alternative course.
Some courses are highly competitive, have a limited number of places and are subject to a quota. Applications for these courses are assessed by ranking eligible applicants on the basis of each applicant’s qualifications. The process compares the qualifications of each applicant and determines the relative position of each applicant for entry to the course.
The minimum selection rank required for entry to a particular course in a particular year is not predetermined. Each year, ranks are determined by the number of places available (quota) in a course, the number of applicants who apply for the course, and the standard of those applicants.
The University reserves the right to interview or audition any applicant prior to selection or to conduct other special selection processes in some cases.
Applicants for performance-based courses may be required to submit a portfolio or complete an audition as part of the requirements for entry into the course.
You can determine whether the course that you wish to apply to requires that you submit a portfolio, or participate in an interview or audition by checking the Admission and Prerequisite information in the Course and Unit Handbook.
