NRM South is presenting a FREE field day on planned grazing trials and grazing management in vineyards.
Morning session 10am-1.30pm:
Meet owner Tony Scherer and the trial team working to improve grazing management and build soil health through a planned grazing technique. Graeme Hand (Stipa Native Grasses Association) will explain trial set-up and Dr Kerry Bridle (Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture) will discuss soil carbon results to date. The formation of a Community of Practice for planned grazing will also be discussed.
Afternoon session 1.30pm-4pm: Understanding animal behaviour in grazing systems with special guest speaker Prof Fred Provenza (Utah State University; biography over page). Prof Provenza will provide an overview of animal behaviour and how to use grazing for inter-row management in vineyards and other perennial crops.
