International students wishing to apply for a Masters or PhD Research degree program must have completed a substantial body of research at either undergraduate or postgraduate level. A certified copy of your academic transcript, or a statement from the institution, needs to indicate the time period over which this research project was undertaken.
To be eligible to undertake a PhD degree, candidates must either hold MSc degree or have an equivalent of an Australian Honours degree, with a substantial research component. Otherwise, students may need to undertake an Honours degree (one year) at the University, which, if successfully completed, can lead on to a research Masters or PhD. To qualify for an honours degree, students need to have obtained at least a credit average in their undergraduate studies.
International students are required to pay full fees for research study (currently $18,450 per year for PhD or $ $16,800 for MSc) for the entire duration of their candidature. Also essential is English proficiency. International students must have IELTS test score above 6.5, with no band less than 6.
Research students can start at any time during the University year.
Scholarships for international students undertaking research are available through a scheme called Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (EIPRS). Other scholarships may also be available.
