Cake is the cornerstone of many celebrations, and a recent reunion of Singaporean University of Tasmania alumni was no exception.
Alumna Cannice Lee (B Bus 1995) hosted forty Singaporean alumni last Sunday 28th January at her café, Chezcake Bistro in the Singapore CBD, as they shared fond memories of their alma mater over cheesecake and coffee.
The event, organised by Richard Ngo, UTAS Alumni Network Coordinator Singapore Group, and Alex Chow, Australian Maritime College Alumni - Singapore Chapter. It brought together alumni from the Australian Maritime College and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Science, as well as alumni who had studied architecture, biomedicine, business, computer science, commerce, engineering, IT, law, pharmacy and science.
Associate Professor Rick Snell, Deputy Dean and Deputy Head of the School for the Faculty of Law also attended.
“It was a wonderful afternoon attended by over 40 Singaporean alumni and a Malaysian alumnus who had flown in especially from Kuching for the day. What struck me was the affection and pride these alumni from different decades had for their University,” he said.
Ms Lee was thanked for her generosity and presented with a copy of the University of Tasmania’s 125th anniversary publication Voices of a University: Celebrating 125 Years at the University of Tasmania.
