Amphitheatre Booking Procedures

The Amphitheatre is situated behind the Arts Lecture Theatre on the Sandy Bay Campus. It is an unroofed open-air structure that has steeply stepped sides without handrails. The area is available for use by University staff, affiliated Student Clubs and Societies, and other approved applicants for activities such as drama productions. Users should note that surfaces underfoot may be rough and uneven and that the approaches to the Amphitheatre are unpaved. There is no disabled access. There is no provision for lighting.

Approval

To gain approval to use the Amphitheatre, an Amphitheatre Application and Indemnity Form must be completed. By signing this form, the occupier agrees to ensure compliance by participants with all applicable laws including fire restrictions and University By Laws.

The Occupier agrees to indemnify the University and its servants, officers and agents against any liability whatsoever to any person, firm, body, instrumentality or company in respect of any claim, demand, dispute or proceedings of whatever nature for loss or damage including personal injury or death, resulting from or arising out of or as a consequence of the Occupier’s occupation of the Ampthitheatre site, or occurring while the Occupier is in occupation of the Amphitheatre site, and caused by any cause whatsoever including negligence of the University.

Please allow at least one week for the approval process.

Requirement for Public Liability Insurance

All users of University venues must be covered by an appropriate public liability insurance policy. The user must provide evidence of a current public liability insurance policy for an amount not less than $10m.
