Asset Acquisition, Recording and Control (including Stocktake) Policy - The purpose of this policy is to maintain control over assets purchased and owned by the University, to provide accurate asset information for the annual financial statements of the University which is required for accrual reporting purposes, to assist in the calculation of insurance values for University assets and provide substantiation of losses for insurance claims, to allow audit verification of additions to and deletions from the Asset Register and finally to ensure compliance with Workplace Standards Tasmania requirements and any other legal obligations.

Asset Disposal Policy - All assets purchased from any funds under the University's control must be disposed of in accordance with University procedures. The disposal process is controlled through Asset Management Services who will liaise with Budget Centres.

Asset Loans Policy - Each Budget Centre is responsible to maintain an Asset Loans Register if they loan equipment to other Universities, students or to off campus locations. For long term loans (greater than 6 months), the Budget Centre must advise the Asset and Property Officer so that the asset register can be updated.

Asset Theft and Loss Policy - Budget Centres must report on a timely basis any event that will (or may) result in an insurance claim, or a contribution from central insurance funds. Note: any loss of this type must be reported immediately to University Security.

Attractive Asset Items Policy - This policy is for attractive assets that are considered to be non-consumable items costing less than $2,000 that are of a portable nature and can easily be removed.

Desktop Computing, Procurement, Installation and Service Policy - The purpose of this policy is to establish the standards and guidelines for the procurement, installation and service of desktop and portable computers, and fileservers. The policy covers all computer hardware, software and information that is stored in any form by or in electronic systems of the University.

Asset Disposal Request Form - To be used by Budget Centres to dispose of equipment. Options for disposal include tender, replacement, retained and dismantled for parts, scrap, donated and insurance or theft.

Asset Loans Register -To be used by Budget Centre if they loan equipment to other Universities, students or to off campus locations.

Asset Register Form - To be used in conjunction with registering attractive assets that are not recorded via the AMS reports.

Update/Transfer Asset Form - To be used when asset information needs to be added to the register i.e. serial no or the asset is being transferred to another location or Budget Centre.
Reports
Three Asset Register Reports have been developed using the Discoverer reporting tool, which are available to staff with FMIS access. They are available through the Miru Data Warehouse.
Tenders
The Assets and Property Officer is responsible for coordinating the disposal of equipment through a tender process. A list of available items for tender is available on the tenders webpage.
