There are two main options – lectern and lapel microphone. In addition, the video conference-capable lecture theatres have a hand held microphone for audience interaction. The volume for all of these is controlled via the touch panel.
Lectern microphone
This microphone is fixed, so you need to remain at the lectern and project your voice toward the microphone.
Lapel microphone
The lapel microphone allows the user mobility around the theatre. The body pack of the lapel mic has an on/off switch and the unit can be worn either on a belt or carried in a pocket. The microphone pick-up is best worn on the front collar or lapel of a shirt or blouse. The body pack also contains a small 9-volt battery that may require changing if the battery has gone flat. Spare batteries are located within the A/V cupboard.
