Engineering Infrastructure

Responsibilities

 

The Infrastructure Services Unit provides technical advice to ensure the integrity, strategic direction and continual development of the various engineering infrastructure. This includes electrical (high voltage & low voltage, security, fire detection, etc.), mechanical (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, etc.) & hydraulics services (cold & hot water, gas, fire sprinklers, etc.) and carparks & roads.

The Unit also manages infrastructure projects.

The Unit operates the building management system that controls and time schedules the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning and assists with energy management on the various campuses.

Inputs are provided during design stage of capital projects; during planning of preventative maintenance routines of plant and equipment; verifications and reviews during post occupancy evaluation; and identification of continual development and improvements to infrastructures.

 

Current Initiatives/Projects:

  • Newnham HV Switchgears no 2 & 3 Replacement.
  • Ventilation Upgrade for Kilns at Centre for the Arts.
  • Newnham Human Life Science Air Conditioning.
  • Statewide investigation of Fire Alarm Monitoring System.
  • Documentation of high voltage reticulation and campus switchboards hierarchy.
