Hytten Hall Barbecue - Booking Procedures and Conditions of Hire

The Barbecue site is in a bush setting near Hytten Hall on the Sandy Bay Campus. The site includes seating and tables for approximately 60 people and is available for use by University staff, affiliated Student Clubs and Societies, and other approved applicants. There is a power outlet that is activated for booked events. The University will provide firewood for the Barbecue but at least one week’s notice must be provided.

Approval

To gain approval to use the Hytten Hall Barbecue, a Hytten Hall Barbecue Application and Indemnity Formmust be completed. By signing this form, the occupier agrees to ensure compliance by participants with all applicable laws including fire restrictions and University By Laws. The Occupier agrees to indemnify the University and its servants, officers and agents against any liability whatsoever to any person, firm, body, instrumentality or company in respect of any claim, demand, dispute or proceedings of whatever nature for loss or damage including personal injury or death, resulting from or arising out of or as a consequence of the Occupier’s occupation of the Barbecue site, or occurring while the Occupier is in occupation of the Barbecue site, and caused by any cause whatsoever including negligence of the University.

Please allow at least 5 working days for the approval process.

 

Requirement for Public Liability Insurance

All users of University venues must be covered by an appropriate public liability insurance policy. The user must provide evidence of a current public liability insurance policy for an amount not less than $10m. Please include details of this insurance with your Hytten Hall Barbecue Application and Indemnity Form.

Schools/Sections of the University and Club & Societies officially affiliated with the University are automatically covered by the University insurance policy and are not required to provide evidence of cover.


Conditions of Hire

  • The occupier must make his/herself aware of, and comply with fire restrictions.
  • The Barbecue is not be used on days of total fire ban.
  • The occupier must completely extinguish the barbecue fire before vacating the site.
  • The occupier must leave the site, including the Barbecue, in a clean and tidy condition.
  • The occupier must remove rubbish from the site where possible, and any remaining rubbish must be placed in bins.
  • The occupier must make him/herself aware of, and comply with the University’s Liquor Policy, if alcohol is to be consumed at the site.
