General Responsibility
Asset Management Services is responsible for property management, including buildings and land allotments that are owned, rented or leased by the University of Tasmania.
Lease Agreements
An approval to enter into a lease agreement for a building or land must be obtained from the Director of Asset Management Services in the first instance.
Asset Management Services will co-ordinate the legal process associated with the formalisation of a lease agreement through the University’s Legal Office.
Delegation for Signing Property Leases
All leases must be signed in accordance with the University’s delegations of authority. The Executive Director Finance and Administration is the University’s authorised officer for signing property leases.
Management of Leases
Asset Management Services maintains a Register of Leases and manages the lease payment amounts, expiry, extension and renewal of agreements.
Compliance
Responsibility for ensuring that the University remains in compliance with the terms of a lease agreement resides with the University’s Head of the School or Section that occupies the premises or land.
