Welcome from the Director

Welcome to the Asset Management Services (AMS) website. I trust that you find the website useful to your needs. Please provide feedback so we can make sure the website remains an informative and useful tool.

AMS is a section within the Division of Finance and Administration. Our vision is “Managing Assets for UTAS Excellence.” We take this seriously and have embraced the principles of Total Asset Management (TAM) to ensure we manage assets to meet the needs of the University. We have documented a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) to assist us in our TAM endeavours. Reshaping the built environment to meet the needs of the University will occur by the progressive implementation of the University's master plan. The 2009 Council Planning Conference provided direction to the Executive to undertake feasibility studies on our highest identified projects. These include the Newnham Health Precinct, Newnham Heartlands project, Medical Science / Menzies collocation and the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies. The refurbishment of Level 2 of the Morris Miller library will also proceed to detailed documentation.

At a Section level, we have adopted the Australian Business Excellence Framework, ABEF, to guide us in all aspects of our business to ensure we remain focussed on what we need to do for the University to meets its aims and objectives. Aligning with the ABEF is a new initiative for the Section and sets us on a continuous journey to ensure we support the University. Our Operational Plan (UTAS staff only) is based upon our learnings from the ABEF.

Our Operational Plan (UTAS staff only) is explicitly linked to the University Strategic Plan and EDGE2 (PDF Document). We regularly monitor performance against our Operational Plan and undertake a review for effectiveness every year. Our three core focus areas are: – student/client focus, teamwork and best practice asset management. We believe that if we can focus on these areas effectively and efficiently, we will meet the aims and objectives as communicated in the University Plan and provide value to the organisation. Staff will have opportunities for professional development to maintain currency with contemporary asset management practice.

The section has dedicated and professional staff. We are supported by professional contractors and consultants that we value and rely upon as an extension to our business. Please use the Contacts page to discuss any queries you may have with staff.
