The Annual Appeal Scholarships honour the commitment of our alumni and friends to the success of UTAS and our students.
Thanks to the generous support of Mitchel Martin-Weber, the University of Tasmania now offers three Annual Appeal Scholarships:
The Annual Appeal Scholarship
The Adrian La Palombara Annual Appeal Scholarship in Mathematics and Physics
The Adrian La Palombara Annual Appeal Scholarship in Accounting
The scholarships, valued between $3,000 and $3,500 per year for up to four years, are available to one deserving student commencing an undergraduate degree each year, currently supporting a total of five students.
With the generosity and support of our alumni and friends we hope to increase the value of the Annual Appeal Scholarship to $5,000 per year for up to four years.
You are able to select a Faculty, School or Institute which may be an area of interest to you or an area that you may feel has a need for allocation of scholarships. You can make this selection either on the online donation form or mailed donation coupon. Although we are not able to guarantee that scholarships will be presented to students studying in your preferred area, the UTAS Foundation will take into account preferences highlighted by donors when allocating the Annual Appeal Scholarship.
“ I am very grateful to Mitchel Martin-Weber for funding my Adrian La Palombara Annual Appeal Honours Scholarship. The financial assistance means so much to me as I don’t have to work as much to support myself and can concentrate fully on my studies. Mitchel has also offered me advice and support when I need it and I am very appreciative of this too.
With both the added benefit of peace of mind from bills, accommodation and living costs, and the flexibility to purchase text books and program licences when I feel they will improve my understanding of my subjects, I have been able to reach my goals and excel in all of my subjects in my first year of university.
The scholarship gave me a great foundation to continue onto second year acquiring the skills in mathematics and physics that will allow me to progress through my entire education achieving great results, and allowing me to have a little fun along the way.
With all sincerity I would like to thank donors to the Annual Appeal and hope that they continue to support deserving students.”
“ I chose to give to the Annual Appeal to recognise my friend Adrian La Palombara (pictured right). In giving to the Appeal I have had the opportunity to endow two Annual Appeal scholarships valued at $3,500 in Adrian’s name, an ongoing tribute to the positive impact Adrian had in my life. I encourage others to consider a gift to the 2012 Annual Appeal."
