University of Tasmania, Australia

A joint event from the University of Tasmania and the VIC/TAS Design Institute of Australia, this will be an interactive fishbowl-style debate between speakers and audience. Be part of the audience and join in the conversation with the speakers.

The debate will focus on the 'fuzzy edges' between the design disciplines where does one finish and the other start? A range of design speakers from New York, Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmania representing interior design, architecture, landscape architecture, furniture design and graphic design will start this sometimes contentious debate before the audience dives into the fishbowl!

Speakers include:

Shashi Caan
Shashi Caan is the founder and principal of the New York-based firm the Shashi Caan Collective, and current President of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI).

Madeline Lester
Madeline Lester is a recipient of an Order of Australia for her services to design, and principal of Madeline Lester + Associates.

Peter Booth
Architect Peter Booth of the award winning studio Booth&Watts. Peter holds a Masters in Advanced Architecture.

Katrin Knoth
Environmental scientist Katrin Knoth who holds a Masters in Landscape Architecture.

Jan Henry-Jones
Jan Heny-Jones has taught across many of the design disciplines including product design, graphic design, interior design, and has worked as a consultant in the creative industries.

Rye Dunsmuir
Furniture designer Rye Dunsmuir who is also the General Manager of the Design Centre Tasmania.
