The Castle 5
|Students:||2012 Learning by Making|
|Project partner:||Youth Futures Inc.|
The primary goal in this iteration of The Castle was to design a road compliant vehicle that was capable of expanding when deployed to a domestic driveway.
The folding mechanism, assisted by four hinges and three gas struts, achieves a 20% increase in habitable volume.
C5 was assembled from digitally fabricated components cut from 78 sheets of plywood and was developed under a grant provided by the Federal Government’s ‘Get Communities Working’ program.
