After graduating the Tasmanian School of Art in 1984 Thorne began work as a freelance illustrator, illustrating books of Aboriginal poetry and stories, as well as doing work for Redback Graphix and Streetwize Comix. He completed digital media course at AFTRS and worked in visual effects for ten years in the UK. The presentation will cover his work as an illustrator and comic book artist in Australia during the 80's and 90's, for magazines like RollingStone. And visual effects work as an animator and supervisor in the UK and Australia on films like "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Prince" and "District 9".
