GASP! (Glenorchy Art and Sculpture Park), situated on the Derwent estuary system, at Elwick Bay, internationally resonant open space providing unique encounters with art and creating memorable experiences for all in the natural environment.
Pippa Dickson commenced working on the art park concept that has become GASP! in 2008. She has been responsible for implementing strategic priorities and raising significant investment from all tiers of government for infrastructure as well as managed the design processes. She works closely with the community, civic, arts and business leaders on developing a shared vision and implementing the critical steps to achieve it.
Pippa has a PhD in Fine Arts, Furniture Design, from the Tasmanian College of the Arts, and a BA in Political Science. She regularly contributes to art, craft and design journals, is a peer reviewer for Craft Australiaʼs craft + design enquiry and a judge for the Tasmanian Design Awards (2005 to present). She has been an active member of the Furniture Designersʼ Association, Alcorso Foundation (Chair of the Fundraising Committee) and the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board (2005‐2010) and is currently a director of Budgets of Care.
In this Art Forum presentation, Pippa will talk about the evolution of GASP!, and its future potential.
