If you are planning to study Ancient Civilisations or have an interest in History, Philosophy or Languages (among other topics), you'll benefit from studying Ancient Greek.
No previous knowledge of the language is required.
This program introduces you to the Greek language primarily as it was written and spoken in Athens in the 5th and 4th centuries BC, one of the greatest periods of cultural achievement in the history of western civilisation.
Upper level units also cover the language of Homer and other Greek dialects.

Undergraduate courses with a specialisation in Ancient Greek:
Ancient Greek can also been undertaken as student electives from other courses across the University of Tasmania and is a complimentary area of study for students undertaking vocationally oriented degree programs such as Social Science, Law, Science, Education and Tourism.
Postgraduate courses with a specialisation in Ancient Greek:
