You can start in our Indonesian program as a beginner, or at a higher level if you have studied before. The program provides you with a structured pathway through Indonesian language learning and Indonesian studies.
In-country study is offered for undergraduate students during the summer semester in Lombok, Indonesia, with opportunities for scholarships available.
Fluent Indonesian speakers are in high demand, in both the public and private sectors. Indonesia is Australia’s nearest neighbour, as well as a major trade partner and strategically. It is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing economies.
Indonesia is the fourth most populous nation on earth and the world’s third largest democracy. It is also the largest Muslim country.

Undergraduate courses with a specialisation in Indonesian:
Indonesian can also been undertaken as student electives from other courses across the University of Tasmania and is a complimentary area of study for students undertaking vocationally oriented degree programs such as Social Science, Business, Education, Science and Law.
Postgraduate courses with a specialisation in Indonesian:
