The Research Centre for European Thought seeks to foster and support research on Europe from classical times to the present day.
It especially focuses on European thought, broadly conceived, to include ideas about Europe, the role of Europe as a crucible of ideas, the influence of European ideas in the contemporary world, and Australia’s relationship with Europe. The Centre brings together researchers from a number of disciplines inside and outside the Faculty of Arts including: Art; Classics; Philosophy; History; European Languages and Literatures; Sociology; and Politics. It seeks to engage with the broader community by bringing together European and Australian perspectives on issues of current public concern.
