Tasmania Scholarships Program
The Tasmania Scholarships Program gives outstanding students significant financial and academic support to study at the University of Tasmania. Scholarships are offered in a wide range of disciplines and selection is based on academic merit. They are available for students studying for degrees at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels.
Cultural Environments and Heritage Honours Scholarship
These scholarships enable honours students to access the materials and expertise of some of Tasmania's leading cultural institutions. Participating organisations include the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, the Port Arthur Historic Site, and the State Archives.
Grant Scholarship
Mrs James Murray in the year 1934 paid to the University of Tasmania a sum of £1000 to form the endowment for a scholarship in commemoration of her parents, Charles Henry Grant and Jane Grant. The scholarship shall be awarded annually in rotation amongst schools to a candidate in the faculties of Arts, Science, Engineering and Technology, Law, Commerce, Health Science, and Education in that order.
Joyce Griston Memorial Tasmania University Scholarship
Mr Basil Griston has bequeathed at least $300,000 to the University. Mr Griston has asked that the gift be used to endow a scholarship in honour of his sister Joyce, and that the scholarship be awarded to Tasmanian students deserving of assistance and studying in any faculty at the University. The Council has agreed to the foundation of an endowed scholarship on the terms declared in these rules.
RSLA Memorial Scholarship
A capital fund of £1088 was accepted by the Council from the Tasmanian Branch of the Returned Soldiers and Sailors’ Imperial League of Australia in the year 1923 for the purpose in the first instance in providing scholarships for the sons and daughters of members or ex-members of the Royal Australian Navy and of the Australian Imperial Forces who were present in any theatre of war during the years 1914 - 1918.
Tasmanian National Undergraduate Scholarships
The scholarships will be awarded for undergraduate study leading to the award of a bachelor degree or combined bachelor degree, or honours degree, and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit within categories prescribed by the committee.

The scholarships will be awarded for a course of study leading to the award of an approved bachelor degree, combined bachelor degree, or honours degree, and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit within categories prescribed by the committee.
Thomas A Crawford Memorial Tasmania University Scholarship
Mr Thomas A Crawford, believed to be the first citizen of the United States to graduate from the University of Tasmania, has made a large bequest to the University, including an original sum of US$200,000. Mr Crawford has asked that the gift be used to endow a scholarship in his name, and that the scholarship be awarded to excellent students who are citizens of the countries specified in the rules and studying in any faculty at the University.
Tasmanian Honours Scholarship
The scholarships will be awarded for study of the honours component of a course of study leading to the award of a bachelor degree with honours or a combined bachelor degree with honours, and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit within categories prescribed by the committee.
Tasmanian Rhodes Scholarship
The Rhodes Trust offers eleven Rhodes Scholarships in Australia each year, one for each state and five Australia-at-Large awards. Each Scholarship is tenable only at the University of Oxford. See More Information for Details.
Australian Postgraduate Awards
The Commonwealth Government makes available each year postgraduate research awards tenable in the University of Tasmania for full-time study by honours graduates leading to a research master or PhD degree.
Estelle Marguerite Taylor Postgraduate Scholarship
The late Estelle Marguerite Taylor has bequeathed to the University the sum of $65,589 for the establishment of a scholarship to be known as the Estelle Marguerite Taylor Scholarship. The scholarship may be held for any course of study leading to a higher degree in the University of Tasmania. It shall be tenable for a period of time determined by the Committee.
Merle Weaver Postgraduate Scholarship
The late Merle White Weaver, a graduate of the University of Tasmania, instructed in her Will that part of her Estate be used for the purpose of encouraging women graduates in the South-East Asian and Pacific area to pursue postgraduate study and research.
Tasmanian Postgraduate Research Scholarships
University awards are tenable in the University of Tasmania for master or PhD degree (research awards). Awards may be held for two years (master) or up to four years (PhD) They are open to both Australian citizens and overseas applicants.
Graduate Research Scholarships
Graduate Research Scholarships are available to graduates on a competitive basis who have obtained honours at a high standard (or equivalent qualification) and who wishing to undertake a research masters or doctoral degree at the University of Tasmania. Scholarships are offered for a wide range of disciplines in which the University of Tasmania has major research programs.
