This lecture will discuss the difficulties and process of teaching English to English language majors in China Jiliang University (CJLU).  The speaker will reflect upon personal experiences as an English language teacher regarding the hurdles faced by Chinese students in trying to achieve a proficient standard in English, both oral and written. The speaker will also discuss the process of cooperating with foreign universities to improve the standard of English in Chinese universities and issues relating to the adoption of English as the preferred foreign language by Chinese students.

Miss Fan Xingxing is a Lecturer of CJLU in Hangzhou, China.  Her expertise and research focus is on English-Chinese translations and vice versa. She also teaches English language. She was awarded her Master's degree from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in 2006 and has been based in CJLU since then.
