Permaculture in China: The Global Village of Beijing (GVB) experience

China is facing huge environmental challenges with many parts of China facing issues with pollution and land contamination. Chinese Non-government organizations (NGOs) are playing an increasing role in environment protection issues. In this seminar, the speaker will speak on one of the most prominent Chinese NGO, Global Village of Beijing (GVB).  GVB was established 1996 as an independent NGO in China.  Its mission is to enhance public awareness and to promote public involvement in environment protection in China by means of the mass media and various social activities.

Speaker:

Chen Liang (Lola) is a postgraduate student from Cheung Kong Journalism and Communication School, Shantou University, China. She worked with GVB previously and she is currently attached to the Asia Institute Tasmania, undertaking research on Tasmanian environmental NGOs and permaculture.
