Ben graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2007 with a bachelors degree in economics and first class honors degree in human geography. Ben's honors research investigated the critical social justice implications of promoting a ‘local food' economy in Hobart.
After graduating, Ben moved to the United Kingdom where he consulted on several regional food systems projects, including helping to develop a local farming/food retail ‘franchise' business, known as ‘Agrarian Renaissance'.
In 2009 Ben returned to Hobart and is now undertaking a PhD at the AIRC, where he is continuing to explore how ‘alternative agri-food systems' can be made more price competitive and accessible.
