Eric Iversen is an Honorary Fellow at the AIRC, where he has also just been awarded his Doctorate (December 2011), which explored the changing role of the patent system in small open economies.
He is a senior researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education (NIFU STEP), where he has worked in the field of innovation and the economics of technological change since 1994. His work centres on the ‘framework conditions' of technological change with special focus on quantitative and qualitative analyses of standardisation, intellectual property rights and their interrelationship. His project work has mainly supported policymaking in Norwegian government agencies, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the EU.
Eric is on the editorial review board of the International Journal of IT Standards & Standardization Research and has been on the editorial committee for the official report, The Norwegian Research and Innovation System: Statistics and Indicators, since 2001.
