International student forum a resounding success

An International Student Forum at the University of Tasmania (UTAS) in Hobart recently attracted a full house. The event, on 1 August, featured four CPA Tasmania members who are past international students, providing their insights and sharing their story with current accounting and finance UTAS students. The four former international students are now respectively employed by the Tasmanian Audit Office (Minyan Qiu, CPA, Team Leader Financial Audit); Mona (Alan Yu, CPA, Accountant); TasNetworks (Dattaraj Mahambrey, CPA, Senior Financial Modeller) and UTAS (Yap Sze Yen, ASA, Graduate Accountant). Anne Ripper, Director Government Education and Training International from Tasmanian Department of Education delivered the keynote address. CPA Australia International Student Forums are designed to increase awareness among international students about the CPA designation and work opportunities in their home countries. They also aim to provide a sense of community, with access to useful tips and resources. This was the first time we held one in Hobart, with CPA Australia, The School of Business & Economics and CPA Student Ambassadors working together to make it a resounding success.
