Majors available within the Faculty's Degrees

Accounting

Accounting graduates are in high demand and employment opportunities are expanding in areas including financial controlling, financial advising, auditing, taxation and a wide range of other business and financial roles. Students completing a BCom with an Accounting major are eligible for admission to CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia , and the National Institute of Accountants. Business Logistics

The Business Logistics Major prepares students for a career in the dynamic and internationally-focused maritime transport industry. With the inclusion of Logistics-based units, the major provides the necessary industry focus and an in-depth appreciation of the issues confronting the maritime and transport industries.

Corporate Governance

Students completing the corporate governance major can expect to pursue careers in any business area that requires a good grounding in corporate governance, financial analysis and decision making. International Business

The International Business Major aims to provide students with current academic knowledge, employment enhancing skills and the basis for life-long learning in relation to IB. Student are introduced to a wide range of disciplines that contribute to the study and practice of IB, and gain skills in meeting the challenges coming from the increasingly globalised world marketplace.

Marketing

Marketing has emerged as one of the most important business disciplines over the past 30 years. Information Systems

Studying Information Systems is the start to a rewarding, interesting, and social career anywhere in the world, and these days almost all occupations require a range of ICT skills. You can use ICT to solve the world’s problems, build connections between people, and spark your creativity.  The Information Systems Major introduces students to a range of skills and knowledge associated with the management of information technology and the management of information systems projects. A key aspect of this major is the integration of information systems with modern business and management principles, providing graduates with an excellent background to operate in today’s modern business environment.

Organisational Management

This major provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to ensure the efficient and effective operation of an organization.  Topic areas include human resources, business communication, accounting and finance, leadership, risk management, marketing, management strategy, corporate regulation and logistics

Tourism

This major comprises an overview of tourism, one of the world’s largest industries, as well as examining tourism as a system. Students are introduced to key areas of academic knowledge, including tourism concepts, marketing, sustainable tourism, tourism planning and destination development. Students also cover issues such as ecotourism, globalisation and tourism, interpretation for tourism, heritage and tourism, and tourism niches.
