Teaching Innovations

Staff within the Faculty of Business are enthusiastic and innovative in developing teaching concepts, methods and learning resources that introduce our students to the real world of business. Attesting to the success of these efforts are achievements such as the School of Accounting & Finance’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2002, followed in 2003 by the B-HERT national award for outstanding achievement in collaboration in education and training with a regional focus. A very successful International Conference on Teaching Innovation in Accounting was held in 2005 in Hobart, which attracted delegates from across Australia and overseas. This is set to become a bi-annual event, aimed at developing and sharing innovative ideas with business academics both nationally and internationally.

With the support of a large University Teaching and Learning Grant, the Faculty has contracted a team of educational professionals including designers and technologists from across all areas of the university to assist academic staff in the development of innovative learning materials appropriate to the business disciplines. This provides learning experiences for our students that are not available in a traditional face-to-face environment, and is enhanced by student support initiatives such as the Faculty’s Internship Program and the current Career Track project. The links below provide some examples of our teaching achievements and resources produced by the Faculty’s academic staff.
