Clair

Bachelor Arts / Bachelor Business (Fourth Year)
Picture Clair

Hello! My name is Clair and I am currently undertaking my fourth year at the University and third doing a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Business degree. I would like to major in Human Resource Management, Aboriginal Studies and English. I have been in Launceston for two years, and love Rugby Union, most types of music, reading, shopping and generally spending time with my friends at the Lake's.

I became a Mentor so I could use my knowledge of my time at University to help people find the answers - I know what it is like to get lost! So please email me if you want some help or a friend to talk to.

Bachelor Arts / Bachelor Business (Fourth year)

Hi UTas students. I am studying a combined degree of Arts/Business majoring in History and Business Management. As a mature age student, it has been a big learning curve for me going to university but I am really enjoying it. I signed up as a mentor as I like to help other students to begin their time at university. Feel free to contact me if you need help or would just like to chat. I understand how different university life is to other times in your life and it really helps to just talk through any challenges you are experiencing.

Mel Wyatt

Bachelor Business / Law (Third year)
Picture Mel

Hi! My name is Mel and I am in my third year of a Business/Law degree, majoring in Corporate Governance! My aim is to practice family law-but I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed Corporate Governance and now have a passion for corporate law.

I started out as a part-time student in my first semester, which was a great way to ease into my university studies, and a little less stressful! I was also at the Launceston campus for my first year so I have some understanding of moving to a new area and starting out all over again on a new campus!

The reason why I became to mentor was to help other students settle into uni, by having a friendly face to come and ask questions and hopefully point new students in the right direction! Please feel free to email me if you need some assistance or someone to chat to. I am more than happy to help! Mel

Bune

Bachelor Commerce / Law (Fourth Year)
Photograph Bune G’day all, my name is Bune. I’m currently a third year doing Commerce and Law. I am hoping to major in International Business and Marketing, Management and Law. Sounds like a lot, well it is. I don’t have any plans of graduating anytime soon, another two years left, so feel free to pick my brain, about anything uni related!

I’m originally from Melbourne, so for all of you not from around here trying to find your way around Hobart don’t worry, I’m still learning, and I’ve been here for like three years! But in this time I have grown to like Hobart and the people. It’s not such a bad place. The night life could do with a little work though.

I am also on the Executive Board of TUBS, a great new society which can make you new friends, and focuses on getting you to better understand the party animal inside you! So if you have any questions or want to grab a coffee or something, drop me a line on my email! Good luck with 2007!

Sally Smith

Bachelor Business
Hi. My name is Sally Smith. I am originally from Brisbane but moved to Tasmania with my husband 2 years ago. I am studying Accounting and Human Resources full time and love it. I also enjoy meeting new people, sailing and going for coffee. Uni life can be hard at first but with a little perseverance, I have finished 11 subjects! only 13 more to go.....

Being a mature age student has its advantages and disadvantages. I only wished that I started my studies years ago. If you need someone to chat to or a few tips on study techniques, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I know how hard it is the first year!

Best of luck. Sally

Jennifer Henwood

Bachelor Arts / Bachelor Commerce
Hi, my name is Jennifer and I am hoping to complete my combined Arts/Commerce degree this year. So far I have completed a range of subjects such as marketing, accounting, journalism and psychology which I have found for the most part interesting and eye opening. My interests outside of University are sport, music, plays and various types of dancing. A great part of University life involves meeting lots of different people and I hope that being a mentor can enhance this as well as providing a friendly face and assistance to others when needed.
