Stuart has taught in many areas in his academic career including human resource management, frontline management, occupational health and safety, educational leadership, and training and development. He is currently teaching two postgraduate units; Human Resource Management and Innovation & Leadership in University Learning and Teaching.
Stuart has worked in academia since 1995, commencing as a tutor at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia; he has also worked in the Vocational Education and Training sector for several TAFEs and a private registered training organisation. Stuart has worked for Curtin University in Western Australia and has considerable business experience as a restaurateur, sales executive, and company director. Prior to commencing with UTAS he occupied the position of Managing Director of an Australia wide training organisation. Stuart has several training qualifications, a Masters in Training and Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Business.
Stuart is a volunteer with the Richmond Fire Brigade, a member of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia, and is a non working director with the WA Training Institute.
Stuart’s main research interests are in the areas of management education and the retention of skills learnt in academia in the workplace – particularly sustainability skills.
Stuart is currently researching student perspectives and drivers in elite business education.
