Finance is the study of the behaviour of capital markets. Recent periods have demonstrated how vital financial markets are for the world economy, and how important a good understanding of financial instruments is for decision making. In finance we learn how to recognise and manage risk, including the role of financial intermediaries, the development of instruments such as derivatives, and hedging against financial volatility.
Finance is important to all aspects of decision making, and the information in this course will enable graduates to: appropriately assess directions in business; manage portfolios; understand financial instruments; and advise on financial market developments.
