Entry Requirements:
Academic entry requirements Australian bachelor or postgraduate degree in a non-accounting discipline, or equivalent Work experience entry requirements - Six months relevant work experience.
Alternative entry Successful completion of the UTAS Graduate Certificate of Management or equivalent.

The Graduate Diploma of Professional Accounting offers students foundational skills in accounting which is often cited as the language of business. People with accounting skills are in high demand in the business and corporate world embracing areas such as finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, banking and information systems, and such skills are increasingly important to groups performing an overview function such as directors. This degree is a pathway for students wishing to complete full study in this area, articulating to the Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Professional Accounting (Specialisation) which are recognised by professional bodies.
Students are required to complete eight units successfully from the following list:
The units in this course form part of the Master of Professional Accounting and Master of Professional Accounting (Specialisation) and, once one of these degrees are completed and, depending on the qualifications of the applicant on entry, it is the first part of a pathway for students to qualify for membership of the professional accounting bodies. The students are then able to pursue professional year studies with these bodies to become an accountant.
Successfully completed postgraduate units in other courses at the University of Tasmania or another approved tertiary institution may be credited towards the degree. Credit is also available for some qualifications attained through professional bodies, where these have been assessed as equivalent to postgraduate study. Please apply for credit at the time of application for admission.
Master of Professional Accounting. This is only for students who hold an bachelor or postgraduate degree.
