Entry Requirements: Academic entry requirements: Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent.
This is course is not currently recommended for those with a Finance major in their undergraduate degree.
Additional Pre-requisites Nil
Designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to analyse financial markets, taking into account regulatory principles, risk management and the use of specialised financial instruments. Emphasis will be placed on providing internationally applicable principles of finance and on the use of financial instruments as tools for risk management across a wide variety of situations.
Students are required to successfully complete ten core units and two elective units.
This course offers participants from different academic backgrounds a qualification in finance. This will enable careers directly in banking and finance but also importantly contribute to the professional skills of the business, government and corporate world in dealing with the assessment and management of risk and resource distribution. The skills provided are increasingly important in decision making and appropriate management of scarce resources. The course particularly includes study in environmental finance.
Successfully completed postgraduate units in other courses at the University of Tasmania or another approved tertiary institution may be credited towards the degree. Credit is also available for some qualifications attained through professional bodies, where these have been assessed as equivalent to postgraduate study. Please apply for credit at the time of application for admission.
