Additional Pre-requisites There are no prerequisites. Students who have not successfully completed pre-tertiary maths or an equivalent must complete UPP090 Bridging Maths or BEA109 Introduction to Quantitative Methods before enrolling in the unit BEA140 Quantitative Methods.
This degree provides graduates with the knowledge and expertise required for a professional career in business. A Bachelor of Business is a broad-based, multi-disciplinary degree that blends a core curriculum of business essentials with the flexibility to study complementary specialist disciplines.
Students who undertake a Bachelor of Business will gain a sound understanding of the fundamentals of business and an appreciation of how individual disciplines fit together in an organisation. In addition to the
degree, many students choose to undertake a corporate internship in order to gain practical experience within a real-life context.
Those who choose to study a UTAS Business program will be challenged to think critically and work independently while developing the abilities and confidence essential for succeeding in today’s competitive
global business environment.

In today’s business world, accountants do far more than the company’s tax return. Accountants are strategic advisers who form the backbone of the management process in any business or public enterprise. Accountants possess a detailed understanding of business issues as well as financial concerns in order to provide the necessary information to assist their employers make sound financial and business decisions.
An accounting major provides students with the knowledge to understand and manage the financial aspects of a business organisation. The major is designed to give students the abilities required to practise as a qualified accountant. Throughout this program, students will not only gain from understanding of accounting and the role it plays in business, but also learn to appreciate the nature of many other elements of the financial world. Including: capital investment, taxation, share holding, auditing, personal finance and corporate reporting and regulation.
The 21st century accountant is integral to business. The accounting profession embraces the complexity of modern organisations with financial professionals providing business management information and advice integral for commercial success. Together with CEOs and directors, accountants provide integral input to top management teams in modern commercial organisations.

Students with a Bachelor of Business with an Accounting major meet the academic requirements for entry to professional accounting programs offered by CPA Australia, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA).

The Business Logistics major can compliment any other major chosen in the Bachelor of Business.

There are no specific prerequisite subjects for this degree but success at the senior secondary level any of the following subjects: English, Business Studies, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting would be an advantage to your studies at University.

Whether on-campus of off-campus, each student should allow approximately 10 hours of focussed study per unit, per week.
It is certainly possible to move degrees once you are at University, but this often depends on how much study you have completed in your current degree, and if you meet the entry requirements for the degree you are wishing to transfer to.
Many students are unsure about what major to undertake initially. We advise you enrol in the degree and decide by the end of the first semester. You will not be disadvantaged. All students are required to complete the same core units within the degree before they begin their major area of study.
This is up to you, but this is certainly a popular choice. A combined degree is a specifically structured program which merges the core requirements of two different degrees. It enables students to graduate with the equivalent of two degrees in an accelerated time period. Combined degree offer students the advantage of greater depth and diversity of subject choices, and broader career opportunities.
