Who
we are
CALT provides
leadership and support for the advancement of teaching and learning
at UTAS. The clients of CALT are all UTAS staff and students.
CALT performs the following roles in pursuit of this mission:
- Contributes to development of policy, standards & services
and quality assurance
- Facilitates the provision of workshops and programs
- Advice and consultancy
- Contribution to scholarship
- Manages University-level projects
- Explores and evaluates learning technologies with staff
- Collaborates with other providers.

Technology
directions
CALT works
with staff across the University to evaluate emerging technologies
for use in teaching and learning.
Integrated
learning support
CALT coordinates UniStart, an enabling program designed
to introduce students to the culture of life at the University and
to begin to develop a range of skills appropriate for University
study.
CALT also coordinates the Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) program, an academic support program available to all students studying in selected units.
Academic staff in CALT also collaborate with discipline-based academics
in support of students to:
- Produce and integrate learning materials tailored to the needs
of the curriculum
- Integrate the instruction of both generic and discipline-specific
academic skills into the curriculum.
A series of generic workshops and a drop-in service are provided
for student support outside the curriculum.
