UTAS has a very limited number of parking spaces available on each campus. Download campus maps for an overview of parking locations on the Sandy Bay and Newnham campuses. Students, staff and visitors are permitted to park in designated car parking areas.UTAS parking areas are indicated by signs and roads marked with coloured dots to indicate the type of parking permitted:

• Blue - voucher parkiing
• Yellow - free parking
• White - staff permit holders
• Green - student resident permit holders

Some spaces are reserved for specific uses such as commercial vehicle loading zones, University service vehicles or school vehicles and are not available for general parking. Other areas may have time limits. It is the responsibility of the vehicle driver to note all signs and park accordingly as it may be necessary to make changes or close areas at any time.

Some campus permit areas are restricted to staff located at those campuses. Currently, restrictions apply at the Medical Science Precinct, the Conservatorium of Music (Tasmanian College of the Arts) and the Tasmanian College of the Arts in Hobart, and the Inveresk campus in Launceston. Signs or special permits govern parking in these areas. Standard staff permits are not valid on these campuses.

Bike lockers are available for hire on the Sandy Bay campus. Eight vertical bike lockers are located on the Dobson Road side of the Morris Miller Library building and 6 horizontal bike lockers with electric bike charging points are located between Alexander Street and Dobson Road (across from the Engineering main entrance). The cost for hire is $30 per annum or $20 for semester 2 only. A deposit of $100 is required. To hire a locker:

1. Fill in and sign the bike locker application form (PDF 73.1KB) and email or post to the UTAS parking office.
2. Once you receive confirmation from the parking office that your hire application is accepted, pay the hire fee and key deposit at the UTAS cashier using the cashier payment advice form (PDF 31.6KB).
3. Take the cashier payment advice form to the parking office to receive your locker key
4. To collect your deposit at the end of the hire period, fill in the application for reimbursement of bike locker key deposit (PDF 26KB).
