You must within 28 days of the date of service of the infringement notice do one of the following:

• Pay the infringement in full.
• Complete the online parking infringement appeal form within five (5) days of the date of issue of the infringement notice.
• Apply in writing to the General Manager, Hobart City Council or Launceston City Council to enter a payment arrangement; or
• Lodge a notice of election for a court hearing with the General Manager, Hobart City Council or Launceston City Council.

If you do not lodge a notice of election for a court hearing within 28 days of the service of the infringement notice and the infringement notice is not withdrawn, you will be taken to be convicted of the offence(s) set out in the infringement notice. If you are taken to be convicted and do not pay, either in full or as arranged under a variation of payment conditions, the monetary penalty may be enforced under the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Act 2005.

If you wish to have the offence(s) to which this infringement notice relates determined by a court, or you wish to argue that the penalty should be reduced, you must lodge a notice to elect a court hearing with the General Manager, Hobart City Council or Launceston City Council.

Forms for the notice of election, or payment arrangement are available from the councils.

Payments for infringement notices are to be made to the Hobart City Council (see the Hobart City Council payments page for details on how to pay) or the Launceston City Council (see the Launceston City Council website for details on how to pay). 

Voucher infringements - Are payable within 14 days of the date of issue. After the expiration of 14 days the amount payable will increase by $10.00. After the expiration of a further 14 days and before referral to the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service recovery proceedings will commence and the amount payable will increase to $80.00.

Traffic infringements - Are payable within 28 days of the date of issue. After the expiration of 28 days and before referral to the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service, recovery proceedings will commence and the amount payable will increase by $35.00 in respect of all offences.

Note: After referral to the Director, Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service, additional costs of $96.00 will be added to the unpaid infringement amount.

• Any appeal against the issuing of an infringement notice must be forwarded to the relevant UTAS Campus Services Office in writing giving full details and an explanation as to why you feel the infringement notice was incorrectly issued. The appeal must be received within five days of infringement issue. Please note the University and councils will not cancel infringement notices that have been issued in accordance with University By-laws and Conditions of Permit Issue.
