The Law Society of Tasmania represents the private legal profession in Tasmania. It provides benefits to its members, including a continuing professional development program and an insurance scheme. The Council of the Society and its committees provide comment to government on proposed legislative changes and rule of law issues. The Society has a regulatory role and issues practising certificates to all lawyers in private practice.
