Discipline research as the foundation for teaching in conservation geomorphology
Overview
Conservation geomorphologist Dr Kevin Kiernan has almost three decades of experience studying the science of landforms in many remote corners of the globe. His passion for this subject exudes in his teaching as he provides lectures incorporating visual projections and information extracted from his research in East Antarctica, the remote sub-Antarctic Heard Island containing the active volcano Big Ben, Iceland, and the caves of Thailand and Tasmania.
Dr Kiernan sees his research as being the foundation of his teaching and refers to it constantly in lectures, laboratory practicals and field trips.
