Drawing on personal antarctic research in a literature course
Overview
Dr Elizabeth Leane, lecturer in English, is engaged in frontier research into Antarctic
literature and culture, and her students gain from the primacy of this research. Examining
the place of Antarctica in literature, and literature in Antarctica, is a path seldom
travelled-Elizabeth must draw heavily upon her own research when teaching this topic,
including her own experiences of visiting the Antarctic, and utilising personal narratives and photographs.
