Based on the Sandy Bay campus in Hobart and looks after the needs of our Diploma students as part of her role as the Diploma Student Coordinator. Flo is also the lecturer for both Experiencing Science unit (XAB080), and the Learning at University unit (XAB011, XAB012, XAB013) for all Arts, Education and Science enrolments. In addition to lectures, she takes the hands-on lab sessions and some tutorial classes.
Recently nominated for a Teaching Merit Certificate for her work with students in 2012.
Flo is interested in the area of tertiary student learning, particularly for speakers of English as a second language. Many students struggle with Academic English, but none more so than our international students. What types of resources are in place for these students to cope with the many complexities of English, what do they really need to succeed and how can pre-degree programs play a part in all this?
