On 18 January a public lecture was held at the University of Tasmanian by leading international climate change scientists who were in Hobart for an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change meeting. Dr Peter Stott (UK Met Office Hadley Centre) and Dr Linda Mearns (US National Centre for Atmospheric Research) delivered presentations on their research relevant to climate change and adaptation. The event was opened by Senator Christine Milne.
The theme of Dr Peter Stott presentation was ‘Attribution of extreme weather events’ and Dr Linda Mearns spoke on ‘Future climate information for adaption studies and planning: what spatial resolution do we really need?’.
This event was hosted by the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF); and Adaptation Research Network for Marine Biodiversity & Resources â a.k.a. the Marine Adaptation Network.
