The University of Tasmania Open Day is a major event every year, with each campus throwing open its doors to the public. Over 9000 visitors attended events around the state, taking the opportunity to chat with staff and students about courses on offer, partaking in tours of unique learning facilities and enjoying a range of activities and demonstrations.
This video was captured at the Sandy Bay campus, where many activities were available, including the Chemistry Magic Show, which played before packed lecture theatres, thrilling young and old alike, the Robogals activity, which helped participants to build their own robots, visitors gathered eagerly to watch the famous Taiko Drummers perform outside Lazenby's restaurant, and the free BBQ and Clubs and Society displays were popular as always.
No matter what the weather was doing, the fairy floss machine, face painting and jumping castle remained firm favourites with small children and their parents.
Stay tuned for UTAS Open Day 2014!
